Inspired, I began writing short notes to myself —
not poetry,
not literature,
not for anyone else,
not to sound wise.

Just simple observations about what I was thinking, feeling, and choosing.

Those notes changed my relationship with myself.

They made me more truthful, more compassionate,
and far clearer about the path I was actually walking.

What This Tool Is

Notes to Myself is a simple practice of writing for clarity, not performance.

It is not journaling as most people imagine it.
There is no structure to follow.
No requirement to write every day.
No need to do it “well.”

It is simply a way to listen more closely to yourself.

Why This Works

Let’s agree on something important:

When thoughts stay in your head, they stay tangled.
When you write them down, they become visible — and workable.

Writing creates distance.
Distance creates choice.

Over time, these small notes reveal patterns, direction, and truth —
like looking at the wake behind a boat and finally seeing where you’ve been.

✍️ How to Use This Tool

After using any Bright Moments tool — especially Breathing In — Tool One
take a moment with paper and pen (or keyboard) and write.

You might write:

  • what you noticed

  • how your body feels now

  • one word that describes your state

Sometimes it’s a sentence.
Sometimes a single word.
Occasionally, a paragraph.

There is no right amount.

Keep your hand moving.
Don’t edit.
Don’t correct.

These notes are not about writing.
They are about honesty.

You might write:

  • once a day, week, or month

  • whenever you want a private conversation with a trusted friend — yourself

There is no schedule to keep.

For many years, I wrote my notes in notebooks — and you may prefer that.
