Celebrate A Victory!
A victory for truth and justice is cause for celebration and congratulations.
I have blogged before about my choice to support Public Citizen as one way to fight against cruelty and injustice. I mentioned that one reason for my choice of Public Citizen is that they file and win lawsuits on our behalf. This morning I received a message from the founders of a recent victory. I have added the whole letter below.
Bright Moments, Joseph
We are so thankful for the tremendous response as folks learn about Public Citizen’s latest legal victory over the Trump regime. If you missed the big news, take a look at our earlier note, copied below.
Onward!

The Trump administration has been open — downright brazen, in fact — about its fixation on abolishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Congress established the CFPB after the 2008 financial crisis to protect the American people from wrongful or unfair conduct by Big Banks and other giant financial institutions. The bureau has recovered billions and billions for everyday Americans, and it has helped bring more fairness and transparency to the financial marketplace.
The regime — specifically the man Trump put in charge of the CFPB, Project 2025 architect Russell Vought — has tried to shutter the bureau by refusing to request funding for it as mandated by law.
We sued, and the judge just granted our motion for summary judgment — meaning he ruled in our favor and ordered that funding be requested as required by law.
In his ruling, the judge said the administration “acted arbitrarily, capriciously, and contrary to law.”
The judge also said that Vought’s scheme to defund the CFPB violates Congress’s clear intention to insulate the bureau from exactly the kind of “transparent display of partisanship” the regime was trying to get away with.
Public Citizen was proud to play a role in creating the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau 15 years ago.
And we are proud to score this significant legal victory in defense of the CFPB now.
We don’t yet know whether the other side will appeal, but we are prepared to fight as long as it takes.
We have filed 35 lawsuits (so far) against the administration since Trump returned to power. And while the justice system can move slowly, in many cases — like this one — we have already kept the regime from doing maximum damage, and we have no intention of giving up the fight as our cases make their way through the courts and as we file new lawsuits.
Are these lawsuits alone enough to fully defeat Trump and MAGA? Of course not. But are they a meaningful part of the pushback that is the only chance we have to collectively save our country? No doubt about it.
What you and Public Citizen are doing together matters. What hundreds of other organizations, big and small, are doing matters. What millions upon millions of our fellow Americans are doing matters. We believe that to our core. We take solace in that. And we draw inspiration from that. We hope you do, too.
If you can, please donate today to support Public Citizen as we continue standing up to the Trump regime.
