COURAGE

A gentle invitation to come back to yourself

People are angry.
People are sad.

Many of us feel something has to change —
but don’t know where to begin.

For many, life feels heavier these days.

The good, peaceful, loving world we hoped for can seem damaged or out of reach.

You may feel stressed, discouraged, or quietly grieving — unsure what actually helps.

And yet…

Something in you is still here.

Still breathing.
Still sensing.
Still longing for connection, meaning, and joy.

That quiet spark matters.

It takes courage
to really live.

Not mountain-climbing courage.

Heart courage.

The courage to begin again.
The courage to feel fully.
The courage to choose life — even when things fall apart.

If something in you recognizes that, welcome.

My name is Joseph.

I’m 87 years old.

I went bankrupt at 45.
I rebuilt my life as a corporate trainer and coach at 50.
I became a jazz musician at 71.
An artist at 81.

Durn the time I was a coach and trainer, I suffered a near fatal medical emergency
caused by a condition that was misdiagnosed.

I went through four major surgeries in just over a year.
I lost my voice for three months.
I lost my clients.

Everything stopped.

So I started again — quietly — building an online business
before I could even speak or work.

My recoveries and restarting again and agin didn’t happen because I was fearless.

all that happened because I kept choosing life.

Even when I was scared.
Even when everything fell apart.

And somehow, each time I said yes, life said yes back.

What I’ve learned

You don’t start by fixing the world.

You start by refusing to abandon yourself.

Over many years, I discovered a handful of simple practices that helped me:

  • steady my nervous system

  • reconnect with my heart

  • meet fear without shutting down

  • reclaim my integrity

  • and step back into life — fully

I call these practices Bright Moments.

They’re gentle.
They’re practical.
They don’t require belief or experience.

They simply invite you to show up.

Let’s begin with one small moment

Before anything else, I’d like to offer you a short breathing practice.

It takes about one or two minutes.

Not to make you calm.
To help you arrive.

My short recording will talk you through it.

Now pause and notice.

Answer each question honestly:

  • Are you more relaxed or less relaxed than before?

  • Do you feel more resourceful or less resourceful right now?

There is no right answer.
Noticing is the practice.

If something in you wants more

Bright Moments is a free collection of simple tools for ordinary humans who are doing their best — and still feel something quietly missing.

For people who feel overwhelmed by the world — and don’t want to lose themselves inside it.

You don’t have to be calm.
You don’t have to be positive.

You just have to be willing to begin.

Bright Moments,

Joseph
